Question on using coupons as cash

Hi folks,
A question for all those on the ball when it comes to using supermarket coupons on products they’re not designed for … Is it right that coupons for a specific supermarket, usually don’t work in other stores?
I.e. a coupon to save £1 on nappies from the Asda magazine won’t work in Tesco.
I think I read that somewhere, but I also thought that thought most supermarkets had policies accepting others' coupons. Is it just specific supermarkets or magazines that don’t work?
Thanks very much for your help - hope all that makes sense!

Normally if the coupon has a retailer on it, i.e. Tesco it will only be accepted at that retailer and only for that product.
Sometimes albeit rairly, a retailer will accept coupons marked for other retailers, for exaple Tesco accepted the Morrisons £5 off a £30 spend coupons that were in the News Of The World a while back.Don't take life too seriously, no one gets out alive0 -

Just to let you know that as well as the above answer, it is not store policy (in Tesco at least) to accept coupons for money off products with other stores names on, but they do often go through the tills as they are not blocked.
I personally do not use them as it is against my store policy (although I know that the SA probably wouldn't notice) as I know the store cannot claim back the money for this and if it happened to often they would make a loss and I'm sure would stop taking coupons alltogether.
I hope this helps.0
