I'd like to buy Settlers 2 and 3 for my laptop (bought new earlier this year) which runs on Windows XP. Will they work for this platform?

should be fine, i have settlers 3 and i have xp. i would have thought no probs with ettlers 2 either, you can download patches for these games that fix problems.
although age of empries is better if you like this sort of gamewhat is the plural of moose?
