Morning all I have an agreement with three debt agencies to pay ** per month I am a single parent of four children on income support and over the past few months i am finding it hard to find the amount needed to pay them. Am i able to write to them and offer them a smaller repayment and do they have to accept it or can they refuse my new repayment.

you can give it a try, i've heard they tend to me more accommodating that most, i chose the DMP route so i don't have to speak to them i figured that CCCS (they guys i'm with) do this day in day out so they might have more clout!Piggy Bank £12.....Delay repay claims for train delays £98.75! mystery shopper work £20 Quidco £9.77 You Gov £1.00Payment a day challenger 63 - Ebay cleared! They do not have to accept anything . But you can only pay what you have , no more . If it ever went to court a Judge would not award a amount you can not afford , these companies know this . Please ensure you can live on the money you have left . Do not enter in to conversation with any of these companies on the phone , it gets you no where. So everything by letter only . Write to them all , tell them what you can afford and that you will be reducing payments. They will threaten all sorts of things but stick to your guns . If they start to get really heavy , come back for tips on dealing with them .0

If your are working with CCCS (www.cccs.co.uk) they will, once you have gone through your income / expenditure, send you letters to use along with forms showing your income / expenditure & a list of all your Creditors.

Just consider any payments as voluntary.
The debt collection agents have no powers at all and can't make you do anything. All they can do is send it to court if they feel they'll get a better result.
If you are paying an amount now that is stretching you reduce it straight away. Write and tell them you've reduced it, and why, and also that you will reconsider the amount if your income should improve.
You just keep paying what you can afford, even if its £1 per month. If that is all your budget will allow they have nothing to gain by taking you to court because the judge will rubber stamp what you've offered and berate the debt collectors for wasting court time.
Do everything in writing only and keep records of all communications and evidence of payments. They will complain and say you must pay more but don't worry it is to be expected, they have to convince themselves that you can't afford more. Just stick to your guns.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
