6 Yr Rule and credit file

Ok, I will start by saying that I do not want any moral high ground answers to this question. If you cant answer the question then please don't waste time typing an answer about how "You have the debt, now pay it back".

If you have several CCJ's that are about to hit the 6 yr limitiaton rule, can you then have those taken off your credit file? Also I have noticed that I have several amounts that are repeated on a credit file as the debt has been sold on to other companies and then they make a note of it on my file, can I get the original ones removed, as this makes my credit file look far worse then it actually is.

Any practical advice will be greatly received.

  • I think it is not a question of you getting them taken off.
I assume that the computers are programmed to drop off things which should drop off and to keep on things which should be kept on.

  • The CCJ's will automatically come off your file when they reach their 6 year date
  • So the CCJs will disappear as if by magic Maria.

  • I think the repetitive Debt collection information on there might be a case for approaching equifax or experian directly. If not it might be a final step to the Information commissioner but someone else might be able to advise more.

The CCJ's drop off automatically the day after the anniversary I understand, but the defaults shift 6 years after registration of the default I think

I bet it is not as simple as that, these things always seem to be set up so they do not benefit us ordinary mortals, I would write to the credt people and ask and check and ask and check again

Yes lodge a notice of dispute with the CRA's

1 Defaulted account = 1 Entry on your file any other should be removed, the debt can only legally be held by one party at a time and a deed of transfer should be completed each time it changes hands.

the entry should also only ever relate to the ORGINAL default date

My CCJ has dropped off without me having to do anything, so it should happen with you.

i had an issue like this with hsbc it did not get to a ccj but it has gone through 6 companies. so i contacted hsbc they explained that once the outstanding balance is cleared all the companies information will be removed for some reason when its sold to another company it remains.
no one can give me an answer to way it just does.
i do agree though it make your credit file look very bad because it looks like o owe 6 companies £663 each when in fact i owe £300 to one as i paid them a lump sum some time ago. that they still have not changed but im working on it. the key is to pressure them daily.
