Yes you can balance transfer OH debt onto a card in your name

    BUT

Is there a reason why he can't apply for 0% or LOB cards? Has the reason for the spending been addressed.

Don't want it to be that in 6 months he has run up the credit cards again, and you are in even more debt

  • Hi thanx for reply,

its not just his spending its both of us. we no longer use any of the cards! we were in a very difficult situation for bout 12 months hence loads of debt, however during that time as most debt were put on his cards i have improved my credit rating.

furthermore OH has a fab great new job which really pays so we are aiming to be cc free by x mas(if we can switch to 0%) and debt free by nxt year so we can save for deposit

ultimate aim get a mortgage 2010 with a good deposit 10% mamouth task with debt we have now but not at all impossible!

I BT'd my husbands credit card balance (£3K+) to my credit card low LOB transfer, but I made damn sure he wrote and signed a document stating that in the event we split up he would be responsible for ensuring that the debt was paid.

Since then I got a new CC with a significantly lower LOB interest rate and BT'd £600 onto it. Altogher this brought forward our DFD by 18 months!

    Good luck
