cheapest place for beans/pulses

Options
Especially split peas. Any suggestions? All the weigh yr own places in my area seem to have closed down. I've seen asian and ethnic shops recommended, but the ones near me are actually more expensive for dried goods than the supermarket! (Although very cheap for fruit and nice too).

Where abouts do you live? My asian grocer and chinese supermarket are far cheaper than any supermarket and the stuff is generally better quality when its rehydrated.

I must be pretty unlucky geographically then. That's what everyone seems to say - my experience is the exception.

Julian Graves have a half price sale on here at the moment, I believe it's usually national when they do have a clear out, so worth a look if you have one nearby.
    TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!
  • Split peas are 49p per bag at Waitrose.

And I'm tight enough to grudge it! I'm on a kick seeing just how cheap I can eat for a month. Just used up some wild blackberries in the fridge in a strawberry jelly and made my own bread...

  • If you are near to Leeds, there is a WeighHouse in the big indoor market.
