Credit File Questions

When you obtain your credit file...and if something is incorrect, how do you go about changing it?
Do they contact all the companies involved to amend it or just remove it as per your request?
Thanks,
Gem

The instructino to amend has to come form the company who placed the information in the first place.
The best thing to do would be to write to the bank involved and mark the letter to their Data Protection Officer, meanwhile write to the credit reference agency involved and place a notice of correction on your account.
The bank should contact the CRA and make the appropriate change. If they don't and you can prove that they are wrong, then make a formal complaint to the Information Commissioners Office.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
For more details, read page 19 to 24 of this factsheet from the Information Commissioner's Office.
