Newbie needing credit advice!

Hi all, just joined up in the hope of some advice on the best way to deal with an impending addition to my credit payouts each month.

I purchased some computer equipment nearly a year ago, with a 'pay within 12months interest free' - that period is nearly up (beginning of Oct) & i'm trying to avoid paying 3yr credit at nearly double what i actually owe. I've been declined a credit card (have one already - Halifax - 0% purchases but its up to its limit). My partner has an average credit rating (no poor credit but not much previous credit). What might be any way of avoiding - partner willing to apply for credit card or a loan with a lower APR, what might be best for us, or at least stand most chance of success?
Thanks..
