I did search the other gift thread but didn't see much in the way of food so thought i would ask here.
I am giving small food hampers and don't want to spend too much i normally buy a £10-£15 gift so want to stick in that region. I have already bought tins of biccies (£1 poundshop) to go in there. I want to do something more personnal xmas cakes maybe? any other ideas and recipees maybe how far in advance i can make these things? thanks guys and girls

How about home made jam or chutney?
Then the only cost potentially is the cost of the sugar
For more money, sloe gin (vodka) ... or something of that ilk?GC - March 2024 -0 -

I made foodie hampers last year which were filled with a combination of any or all of the following home made stuff.
Blackberry jam (foraged blackberries)
Tomato chutney
Lemon Curd
Picallli
Pickled Onions
Paoched pears
fudge
Bailey's truffles
peppermint creams
chocolate covered marshmallows
gingerbread biscuits
mince pies
christmas pudding muffins
All dead easy to make and they are lots of recipes out there.0 -

Turkish Delight... looks fairly cheap and easy to make. Here's the basic recipe, but there are loads of different flavours and ingredients you can use (lemon, mint, rose, pistachio, coconut etc.).TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -
