Hi
Currently have NTL box but getting really fed up with them and so frustrated that there customer service is so poor - can't believe a business there size have such useless customer service (closed from Sat teatime till monday morning
)
Sorry laughing at myself that this is a problem - how times have changed ;D
Anyway I think the Sky package is comparable, but just wondered if anyone knew of any good deals before Xmas and also how much notice I do have to give NTL ???
Sorry for the rant and thanks in advance

Hi Clairog,
Try this

Sorry, don't know how much notice (if any) you have to give, but you'll have em jumping through hoops to try and keep you.
You can spend your time alone re digesting past regrets,
Or you can come to terms and realize you're the only one who can forgive yourself.
Makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

Thanks Valiant - is that not if your an existing Sky subscriber though? I've never been. Maybe I'm reading it wrong - late

Sorry Clairog :-[,
To make amends for that rubbish above I've done some digging.
re: NTL
Taken from http://www.home.ntl.com/page/termsresidential
3. Duration
3.1 For our Starter Pack the minimum period of service is 12 months starting on the date we activate the Services. You can only terminate this Agreement during that minimum period if conditions 19.4 or 20.1 apply otherwise we may charge you a cancellation charge which will be the charges which would have been payable to the end of the minimum period. After the minimum period, either you or us may terminate this Agreement on one month's written notice.
3.2 For all other Services (unless otherwise stated in our Price Lists) the minimum period of service is one month and either you or us may terminate this Agreement to the extent that it relates to such Services on one month's written notice.
19. Suspension of Services and Termination
iv.we have reason to believe that you have provided us with false, inaccurate or misleading information either for the purpose of obtaining the Services and/or the Equipment from us or at any time during the provision of the Services and/or the Equipment;
20. Cancellation Rights
You may cancel the Services without penalty in the following circumstances:-
if we increase our Charges you may cancel those Services in respect of which the Charges have increased by giving us one month's notice in writing within 30 days of the earlier of:
(a) such price increase being notified to you under Condition 6.2; or
(b) the date of your first bill following such price increase, irrespective of whether the minimum period in respect of those Services has expired. If you cancel Services under this Condition, the increased Charges relating to those Services will not apply to you;
PHEW!
Basically you need to 'duck n dive' a little if you've been a customer for less than 12mths, but if you've been a customer for longer you just need to give 30 days notice.

Choose one letter and one number and that will tell you how much it should cost.
It is slightly out of date, but again using your negotiating skills you should be able to get a good deal.
If you're interested in sky+ I read in one of 'our' forums prices will be reduced Jan 05.
Personally most of my family have NTL, but for the life of me I don't understand why. When I left NTL 2 or 3 years agoI was amazed at how much NTL didn't give you, and as sad as it is I did scroll through all the channels and found lots (technical term) of digital radio channels, shopping channels, foreign language channels and other stuff. My favourite is the AdvertChannel (always good for a laugh).
Also if you have friends who already subscribe to sky you can both get £30 of M&S vouchers if your friend introduces you.
Hope this helps
;D.
