buffy the vampire slayer themed halloween party and website help

I'm planning on having a fancy dress halloween party and have been toying with the idea of having it buffy the vampire slayer / angel themed. Obviously I want to keep costs down but have a great party.

Firstly do you think the theme will be too difficult for people that never watched the show? Should I just stick to halloween fancy dress?

Next I was thinking about setting up a website - could put on a list of who was attending as which charactor, so don't get 10 of one charactor. Also wanted to include list of charctors as help for people to decide who they wanted to go as. Links to sites - for example I've found a site that sells the vampire style brows, cheap contact lenses for anyone wanting to go the whole hog!! Also pictures of the party for afterwards etc. Looking for advice on how to set up a website or anysites that offer it for free etc.

Invitations – I want really cool looking invitations – was thinking that the photo printing sites could do some for free for me (eg first 30 prints free etc) – anyone know if this would work? Or perphaps an interesting flash e-mail invite / link to the website. Any sites or anyone know where I could get someone to design something (invites / website) cheap?

Ideas for decorating the house? – was thinking maybe vampires lair / bronze theme etc or just haunted house style. Thinking of a graveyard for outside complete with tombstones.

Fancy dress ideas /links – anyone know where I can get cheap contact lenses etc.

Any other ideas grately appreciated – for example thinking bloody mary cocktails on arrival - what else could I do?

Just a thought but you need to be careful putting details of a party on the internet. If you are not careful you will get far more people than you had planned!!

oh I love this idea! I don't think that it would be too difficult to do. You should be able to print invitations the way you have said with a picture on one side. It wouldn't be too hard to design one using pictures off the internet. They wither getting them printed on a photo site or maybe VistaPrint postcards.

Umm as for costumes might be an idea to include some suggestions; apart from the obvious characters guests could also come dressed as the characters when they dressed up - for example willow dressed as a ghost for Halloween once and an Eskimo for another! And people could come as Spike and Angel at different ages? Oh and people should come as baddies too there are lots of those to choose from!

As for decorating the house you could have different rooms for different 'sets' on the show. A magic shop, the library. maybe or just a haunted house idea. Either way lots of eerie music and stuff!!

i don't think i've actually been very helpful but i'm a big Buffy/Angel fan so your idea got me a little excited!

thanks, there's some great charactor guides on wiki - which is kind of why I was thinking of a website - maybe a factsheet with links maybe an easier idea. A friend is thinking dark witch willow and I'm considering going as vampire willow.

I like the magic shop idea, have been thinking maybe willy's bar for the kitchen / dining room. i have a soundtrack cd I could play at the beginning to hopefuly give some atmosphere!

thanks - i've got the invitations sorted now - created an invitation made up of a lot of images with white writing overlaid - getting them processed on snapfish - 40 photos free :money: and I think then I will add black card to the back.

Any ideas on costumes or decorating?

Bearing in mind the theme is going to mean some creative thinking for costumes I am thinking about offering a prize for the best dressed. Has anyone got any ideas what prize I could offer but on a cheap / money saving basis?

Also does anyone know where I can buy cheap bottles that look like potion bottles? - think http://www.misssixtyparfums.com/elixir/index.php shaped - for the magic shop ided - thought I could have displays. Any other ideas of what could go on the 'shelves'?

Got some of the invitations made now - they are looking really good. I'm thinking of doing a factsheet for guest re: fancy dress - suggestions to go as - any thoughts? Or how they could dress as a demon?
