PayPlan Getting Me Deeper In Debt

I have had several of my debts listed with PayPlan for approx 3 years now. Everything had been running smoothly until Great Universal sold my debt on, they changed the account numbers and then bought it back again!! This happened over the course of about 8-9 mths.

All the correspondence I received regarding this debt was passed onto PayPlan so that they could send the money on. However, this hasn't happened. From what I can figure out, they have been paying the money to the wrong company and for the life of me I can't figure out why.

I have gone all over the letters/e-mails I've sent and I can't see where the problem arose. I now have another £120 on my bill from admin charges due to the account either not being paid / GUS not having my financial statement / the offer of payment not being 'officially' accepted.

GUS say they will not stop charging me admin charges until the agreed rate is being paid and PayPlan say there is nothing else they can do, they say they have done everything they can. So every month PayPlan pay GUS £5.35 and GUS charge me £12 - the result being I am -£6.65 every time.

PayPlan say that they can write to GUS once my account has been cleared to ask them to waive the fee's, but at this rate the account will NEVER be cleared - its simply not possible!!

Can anyone suggest anything?? I'm at the end of my tether. I was so close to getting this one paid off and now i'm practically back to square one

    Hi
I am starting to have the same problems sort of with payplan. The problem I have is more than one of the debts has been sold on and now it appears that although I am paying payplan the money it is not going to the right creditor and becuase this has happenend with more than one account everything apperas to be all confused and I am starting to again get lots of letters which also is causing problems as some are going to my old address. I to have sent all the letters on to payplan butnothing seems to be happening with it!

are you in a position to take control of your dmp yourself? Might be a better option if you dont mind doing all the work.

Not too sure what you can do about that. Have you written a letter to payplan requesting a breakdown of the payments they are making and the account numbers these payments are going to? GUS may still be taking payments under your old account number.

Have you tried requesting a copy of the CCA?

And reclaimed all those admin charges?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • GUS have said that I can't reclaim the charges. They said that I could try writing a letter explaining the confusion with PayPlan - they can see that payments were made on time prior to them selling the debt on then taking it back - and perhaps that would do some good. Although to be honest the lady on the phone didn't sound too hopeful.

I know that the people I deal with are doing their best (I hope) but I'm sure the fact that English is not their first language is a problem. Its difficult for me to explain to them what is going on my end.

I have in fact taken the GUS debt back, the agreement they made with PayPlan is now being paid directly by me. This is also true of another debt PayPlan paid incorrectly.

I'm not sure I have the confidence to deal with the people I owe money to. Plus I have medical problems that play up when I get stressed. I just want to get these debts paid off as quickly as possible - so close yet so far away

How long have you had your PayPlan arrangement for?? They were SO helpful at the beginning. In one recent e-mail, I could be mistaken for thinking they were suggesting I start paying the debts myself from my 'surplus'.
