I owe money to all 3 banks recommended for bankruptcy. My partner is also going bankrupt, but doesn't owe money to co-op like me and so has just opened a cashminder account as recommended by you guys. If I have my benefits paid into his co-op account, as I owe money to Co-op will this money be taken from his account? TRying to work out where to have my maternity allowance, child benefit and tax credits paid as I owe money to barclays, co-op and post office amongst others. Any advice appreciated

There have been others on here who have wed barclays and stiil been allowed to open a basic account with them.
As to your question. I would not have thought they could touch your money as in theory it is his account. Hi - once you are bankrupt, they can't take any money from you for those debts - assuming you are going bankrupt, that is - from any account, yours, your partners or otherwise. I owed coop - in the form of smile - £860 but i got a cashminder account with no problems.0

I owed Co-Op c£15k and they let me open an acount, tho I think they have changed their ways now.
As for your partners account, Co-Op will have no right to touch that, and indeed they wouldn't even be aware that it was your money going in their anyway0 -
Does Co-op have any affiliation with MBNA? Therefore if you owe MBNA would they not let you open an account? (I only ask because on my credit card statement it says can pay via Co-op so just wondered).0
