To know why tesco?

Would not take my money of vouchers today. The girl on the till said that it was a new policy that they were not to take the vouchers of you unless you had purchased the product. I disagreed, but with 2 people behind me and me red in the face. I just told her she was wrong and for her to check with her manager. >:(

i always thought you could only use money off vouchers for things you'd actually bought, ??? it does state on most vouchers not to embarrass the store by asking for the voucher to be used against any other product, when i shopped at tesco they would actually go through your whole shopping again regardless of whether you had packed it or not, it was so embarrassing, so i stopped shopping there. I used to have milk tokens years ago and they once told me that i could not use them on longlife milk it had to be fresh. >:( ??? :-[
Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission ;)

    ya still freezing :p

  • I don't think Tesco will take any vouchers, but at the moment Asda will accept any vouchers whether you're buying the item or not. The only condition is that the voucher is for something Asda sell. However they will also do price match on any item and also they'll accept other stores' coupons.

I like Tesco, but we need Asda to keep things competitive.

You can spend your time alone re digesting past regrets,
Or you can come to terms and realize you're the only one who can forgive yourself.
Makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

It's within the store's interest to accept as many (manufacturer's) vouchers as it can. It keeps customers happy, and it doesn't cost the store anything to accept them - they still get paid the value of the tokens (plus a handling allowance) by the voucher issuers.

It seems quite a sad fact that Tesco's Head Office doesn't communicate its policies though the different levels down to checkout operators. Often, checkout operators aren't told of any specific policy and are left to make their own minds up, or waste time in calling a supervisor.
  • hi

i work for tesco and its not a new policy its a very old one

policy is they have to accept 2 without you buying the item anymore and they dont

    question answered ;D ;D ;D
  • I went to Tesco at Ollerton yesterday and the girl took all my squillions of vouchers, nearly £40 worth, without batting an eyelid ;) but Tescos at Lincoln wont take them so I guess it just depends on where you go.
You can if you think you can!

Tesco have recently revised their policy. You can hand over one voucher per item you dont have, so if you have purchased an item and you have two vouchers we can accept both.
Tesco cannot claim their money back for vouchers and i guess with the amount available these days they have to draw the line.

On the conditions on these vouchers it has details of where the retailers should send them to get their money back, usually also mentions a handling fee!

I can confirm that it does depend who serves you. I've been told different things by different Cashiers in both Tesco and Asda, although Asda seem to be slightly more consistent. I get to know which cashiers will take vouchers, and try to go to them.
