Honeymoon Ideas - Small harbour + promenade

Hi folks !!

Can you help ?? Ideas wanted for HM location !! Preferably in the Med.

We are getting married next June and i am looking to surprise the wife to be with a romantic honeymoon :A

Looking for somewhere away from the 18/30 crowds but not too quiet, must have long promenade for evening walks and evening meals - a small harbour would be nice. Greenery preferred !!

Ideally the accomodation would need to be low rise (no huge tower blocks please), bungalow or villa style would be great. Would need to be walking distance to bars and restaurants etc

All help appreciated !!

Alicante is up market these days with a lovely long promenade, lined with trees and it has a marina with lovely places to eat. No 18/30 crowds here either as they are all in Benidorm further along the coast which you can get a train/tram to if you have a mind.
  • What about the Canaries? We went to Caleta de Fuste on Fuertaventura at easter. Very nice long boardwalk around a beach, and then a wilder side with cliffs and rocks.

North side of Tenerife also worth a look. Puerta de la Cruz has gorgeous black beach where you can sit and look up at the snow on top of Mt Teide.

Exclusive Escapes have fabulous hotels in Turkey and Cephalonia. Their staff are very helpful if you want to discuss ideas with them. I went to Turkey with them last year and had a wonderful time.

Also, how about Lake Garda in Italy? There's a very pretty resort there called Limone. You can do day trips to Venice...or maybe a couple of nights in Venice, followed by a few nights in Lake Garda?

    Good luck!

Thanks for you top tips so far !!

I popped the big question in Gran Canaria and the future in laws have a appartment in Murcia - so they are not really options for us.

What about the Greek Islands ?? Never been but the thought of 24h parting and drunken brits is a no no !!

Corfu Town is lovely or Rhodes Town
  • How about Minorca?
Lots of quaint villages to visit, fiestas during the summer and harbours aplenty. Fornells (see below) is famous for seafood and the King of Spain apparently moors offshore for his holiday so it can't be bad. We had a great holiday there last year and would thoroughly recommend and Fornells looks amazing lit up at night with the lights shining off the water.
