Getting dressed

Hi, i've been thinking about the order to get ready in on the day and i'm not too sure so I thought I would ask the advice of those who know!
My dress is a two piece, the skirt has to go over my head as the zip doesnt come down far enough for the skirt to open up enough to go up over my hips, it's quite a big skirt so i dont want to do too much sitting down really before the wedding so it isnt too creased when i walk up the aisle...
So I was wondering what order I should do things, should I get all my undies on and do my hair and make up then get dressed or should i put undies skirt petticoat and skirt on then do hair and make up then put the top on (which is a corset so doesnt hae to go over my head...)
So I just dont know what to do for the best, I dont want to crease my skirt but I dont want to ruin my hair or get make up on the skirt... any ideas????

I did undies, make up, hair then dress... it had to go over my head but I was just really carefull...
I did it this way because I wanted to wear my dress for as short a time as possible before leaving the house.....0 -
yes i did the same as hotchick, everyone else was running round like blue ar**d flies and once my make up etc was done i went out the back garden for ten mins to chill on my own, im still chuckling over a week on to myself at hearing my mum running round shouting out wheres gemma she needs to get dressed or we will be late lol (sorry mum) i was only in my dress about 20 mins before i left the house, just make sure you go to the toilet before puttingit on, i did and still had to wee twice before leaving the house, what fun that was and yes the nerves were kicking by thennow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0

i've decided that i'll get everything sorted before i put my dress on including copious trips to the bathroom cos that's what i'm trying to figure out,how to go to the loo with it on (sorry if that's too much information)0

To save smudging your makeup put a scarf over your head when you put the skirt part of your dress on, this will save smudging (be careful though don't tug at it). Ask your mum or chief bridesmaid to help you. Perhaps if you stood with your arms above your head, a scarf over your face and hair - draped is fine and then someone drop the skirt over your arms and down your body?
If you are on your own with no help then I would suggest getting dressed first and then doing hair and makeup.0 -

I was helping my friend getting dressed before her wedding and she had this problem, she had her hair and make up done before underwear and dressing - clean pillowcase over your head to protect hair and makeup and help with the dress. Then We popped the dress over her head, t was really easy. Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:Member no. 920 - Proud to be dealing with our debts0

Putting my dress on will be the very last thing I do, I want my Dad to be the first to see me in it (apart from my MOH who will be helping me into it!) so want my Mom and the bridesmaids out the door and off to church first....A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Ha ha, the idea of pillowcase over head made me laugh!!
My bf's sister can step into her dress, she was told to make sure she puts on shoes last (she'll need help!)0 -
Could you get a stool to sit on rather than a chair then you could just put the skirt over it rather than sitting on the skirt. Not sure if i'm saying it right but basicly the stool would be in under your skirt. If you could get a backless barstool then you could be high enough off the ground that the skirt wouldn't fold from touching the floor either.0
