Council Tax Bank Arrestment

Hi
I am looking for help if at all possible, I have been pretty badly in debt for a few years now and had an arrangment with payplan but recently things have got out of control again when I thought I was getting back on track this has culminated in receiving a letter this morning saying they are going to arrest my bank account because of council tax arrears. I phoned the company who said there was nothing I could do except pay the whole amount which I cant do, but if they arrest my bank account I cant see what that achieves as I dont have any money in it. Any advice would be appreciated as I dont know what to do now.
Thanks

  • We had an attachment of earnings slapped on us so they could deduct any money we got before it came to us. Attacking an empty account seems a waste of time and money.

Well i would put you proposal in writting and send it to the company with you SOA and a postal order for first installment. send it recorded delivery.

I guess they hope to get lucky with a bank arrestment and will probably go in to it this friday as alot of people get paid last friday/last workingday of the month.

Thanks Lilac, I figured thats what they would do. I have since spoken with the council and they want me to go and see them and arrange a plan to pay the arrears. the problem I think I am going to have with that is that they want it paid by January which would make the payments over £250 a month which i cant afford but will go and see them anyway.
    Thanks
