Black Horse Payment Date

I have just taken out HP with Black Horse for my new car.

The first payment came out today (26th). As I get paid on the 15th of every month I prefer all my DD's to go out on the 15th/16th

I phoned Black Horse to ask if I could change the payment date from next month from the 26th to the 16th.

The guy told me that there would be a £100 charge and that the next payment could not be taken until the 16th October.

Has anyone else had this problem? I am not asking for the payments to be later in fact I want them to take them 10 day earlier but they said the can't

How long ago did you take this loan ?

On some I know within a certain amount of time of taking out the product, you can request this, so it may be worth you checking in the documents you have, terms & conditions of this product.;)

I hope they sort this out for you, good luck !

    Thanks.;)

I would give them another ring hun and see what they say again, it would be good if they would be able to do this as a goodwill gesture for you.

If it is causing a problem paying out on that actual date stated and they are not willing to change this free of charge for you, maybe you could contact the CAB to explain your situation here, or maybe your local trading standards to see if they could get in touch with them and sort this out for you.

    It maybe worth a shot.;)

Did they give you a choice of payment dates? Normally you can choose the date you would like the DD to go out each month. £100 to change seems very harsh - if you weren't offered a date you may at least have a fair point to argue.
  • No choice of date.

What I cant understand is the next payment is due on 26th September. I want it on the 16th September.

Told if I wanted the 16th they couldnt take a payment until 16th Ocotber and £100 charge for it

Yes I totally agree with Swebb.

Give them another ring and if you was not given an option of a choice of date just tell them that.;)

  • You're in the same situation as me - as I get paid on the 15th but used to have some direct debit which came off on the 14th! One of these was for an Egg Credit Card and they changed it after a few months of me continually requesting them to make a change but at no cost.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
  • Hello
I'm afraid my experience with Black Horse is no matter how many people you speak to they will give you wrong, inaccurate information.
I agree with other posts - I would call again - hopefully you will eventually speak to someone who understands what you want to do -bring the payment date forward 10 days.

I've not heard of £100 charge but having said that these are desperate times for finance companies & they will charge for anything - is it a new charge I wonder?

    Good luck

I know no matter who you ring at that Black Horse Department they are more than likely as bad as each other, but maybe you could always try to get in touch with the managers office.

I have no dealings with these myself but I would personally try again and if they keep fobbing you off, pop into your local CAB, or maybe ring them, or Trading standards as these have also helped me in the past with some finanical situations and resolved it for me.
Hope they can do the same for you too.;)

  • It is not possible to bring a due date forwards on a HP agreement through BH. So that information is correct. Technically if you want to alter the due date now via DD the next payment won't call until the 16th of October.

The £100 charge will be extra interest that would accrue over the difference in times. IE the 26th September > 16th October.

If it is the first time you have changed due dates and since it is a considerable sum I am certain if you phone the contact centre and explain the situation politely that fee would be taken off and you could just recommence payments from October with no penalty.

If you're interested the way the payment dates are decided is one month from payout date of the agreement. (Unless of course it is a deferred agreement for 6 or 12 months). So the motor dealer is supposed to hold sending across documentation until one month previous to the intended first payment date or at least clearly label the documentation that payout should be held for a specific date. Unfortunately the vast majority of dealers couldn't care less what happens to the customer and is only interested in getting their commision asap so leave the customer and the finance company to sort these problems out at a later date.
