i spent £1.20 today on a copy of The Sun and three slices of toast and three butter all for me today!
Savings Total so far for 2026: £0/£10,000
  • Shame the sun doesn't do a subscription eh James?!

Today I have spent £4.40 on gym as i have started a fitness training program and so have been motivated to start going regularly again (well, this is my second visit).

I have brought my lunch with me but it is the weirdest concoction of red rice, stir-fried with egg, with kidney and butter beans thrown in, and then a lemon and oil dressing. I was really raiding the store cupboard this morning! If it's alright then i may supplement it with a salad from work (60p) if it is rank then i may have to shrug my shoulders and buy a meal. No spending planned tonight.

    Hello.

Yep James - shame there isnt a subscription to the Sun :0)

I didnt spend anything yesterday as planned, and wont again today, although I only have a plain boring cheese sandwich for lunch and fancy something else with it, but will have to make do.

Well, I have done an order online with Tesco, so I suppose I have spent money, but that doesnt really count yet does it?? It had got to the point where I had no frozen food/tins or basic foods, so had to do a biggish shop. I had a discount voucher for £10 off, but although its been accepted, I hope they do take it off, otherwise I will have spent £45, eeeeek!! It will last me a while anyway, and it needed to be done...

Its nice still to have the same money in my purse I had on Monday, yippee!!!

    xx

I'm not spending anything today. Have my lunch with me (just boring sarnies, nothing as creative as yours Tondella!) and am working overtime this evening so won't have any time to spend anything tonight! Yay!
  • I have spent nothing today, and hopefully will not as I should have my nose in Martins new updated Money Book which arrived today from Amazon.
Strange though, as I though it wasn't out till December?
    October make £10/day currently £11.02

maybe my book arrived yesterday then, I had a parcel that has been taken back to post office as it was too big to fit through letter box. Hopefully my book so I can get on with more money saving.

might sound nice, but I have no way of conveying what it actually looks like!

This is probably the wrong place to ask this but ... is the buying the money diet worth it? I tend to react badly to self-help books, but obviously have a lot of love for Martin and the community here. As an all out debt-free wannabe at the moment will i actually gain anything in addition to what I can get from here????
