Not sure where you are but Pronuptia (in Nottingham) have a sale in October. It can be a bit of a lottery though, as they add gowns all the time and you have to find your size.

I bought mine at a designer dress sale (where you have to get a ticket, and again, its also a bit of a lottery) and got a £900 dress for £600. However, this meant I got no after sales service, and have to arrange for my own alterations etc. You might still be able to get some service if you buy from a shop, even if it is a sale gown.

I was told new season gowns come in January, so there might also be some more sales then.

Don't know where you are based but I got my dress in Pronuptia in Edinburgh. The front of their shop is an outlet for the rest of the stores, selling ex-display and show dresses at up to 70% off. I ended up getting a proper weddingy wedding dress because of it!

Yes, it does, but I suppose it varies at any time. Pronuptia sizes are quite small though, I am a 12 although often 14 around the chest area and I tried on a 14 which was too small all over. The dress I am getting is a 16 but will need to be taken in in places, but that's fine with me. Might be worth calling them before visiting?

I've heard now that some wedding dress shops are charging to try on dresses because they have got wind of some dresses being tried on and then ordered from china :(

Just wondered if it was true?

I don't think shops are charging but they get wind of dresses being ordered from China when the brides venture into their shop to ask for their dresses to be altered because some dresses have arrived in a poor condition and not as described in the photograph that they chose from.

Bridal shops will be having their sales now because they will be attending the Bridal Trade Show at Harrogate on 7-9 September where they will be buying new stock for 09/10 season.
