Worried about getting a new mortgage

Hi,

My husband and i are planning on selling our flat and moving into a bigger house but i am worried we wont get accepted for a mortgage.
We have in the past been late paying credit cards but these are all up to date now, i was late paying my mortgage last month due to me miscalculating with the bank (i took too much money out and wasnt enough to pay mortgage) but this got paid up to date a week later.
we have 2 loans (£500 per month for the 2) and also our car loan (£130 per month) we have a joint income of £39000 pa.
At the moment our flat is all in my husbands name but would like both our names on new house. we would make £40k + on this flat so would put this straight down as a deposit on new house which is £135k.
Could someone please put my mind at ease and let me know if we stand a good chance of getting a mortgage.
We seen a mortgage advisor today but all he said was we have to wait and see, he has applied to halifax for us but said it would be a few days before we'll get an answer. i cant wait that long!!
a couple of years ago we went to rbs as we were going to switch mortgage lenders (we're with abbey just now) and they knocked us back!
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks x

If you are stuggling to keep on top now and have other debts is it wise to be extending debt. how can you afford a bigger mortgage.

Why not get the finances under control first?

Do you have the money to pay for the costs of moving?

Do you have a budget set up for the next 5 years?

Why the hurry to move in the current climate??
Selling the flat, that will be your first hurdle to overcome. Do you have an offer yet?
You may get a mortgage in principal, but they will probably want you to pay off your loans first.
