Tax rebate due to thr allowance hanging

Hello,

As far as i am aware the tax allowance was being changed from £5435 to £6035.. this £600 change would be in the 20% tax bracket meaning we would all be paying £120 too much over the course of the year. I read a while back that we would be getting a £60 rebate in septembers pay packet and £10 for the following 6 months of the tax year. Is this true and will it jus come normally on my payslip or will i need to apply for a rebate?

Not sure about the sums involved but the new tax code will be applied by your employer so it should come through automatically and you don't have to ask for it.

If you're on a standard code - your employer is instructed to increase it by 60 to co-incide with the Sept payroll. This will, as you say, generally result in £60 less tax than would normally be paid in the month and £10 less per month for the remainder of the tax year.
