School Uniform

My daughter is changing school and I have to buy new uniforms by Monday.
Does anyone know of any stores still doing these , I know I can get stuff from John Lewis but it is sooooo expensive. £73 for the School blazer  which I had to buy due to the embroidered pocket  .

I did get it price matched to £43 but still think that was too much.

She needs senior sizes and it has to be Bottle Green, Also looking for opaque tights also in Bottle Green which I also refuse to pay £5 for each pair

Appriciate any advice.

Sorry, can't help with suppliers, but I'm afraid the words Bottle Green took me back to my old school days, when my school uniform was Bottle Green. I remember those Bottle Green PE knickers like yesterday - and I can assure you it was quite a few yesterdays ago!! Some things stay inyour memory forever.

I think the price of school uniform is horrendous. And as for blazers!! We had those as well. and I remember my Mum wondering where she was going to find the money. Got a second hand one in the end. Luckily the stupid looking hats were removed from the uniform list the year I started.

Good luck in your search. Can the school office give any help / advice as to wear these may be obtained? They may actually sell items themselves, or have a second hand shop for certain items. ( Hope you're not offfended by that suggestion - apologies if you are).

"Don't know if this is public knowledge, if so, then apologies but the lady at the till at Debenhams whispered to me today not to do a big shop on childrens clothes after I mentioned I needed to stock up.

She said that next Weds (16th) they were doing a mega 25% off everything in the store. She first thought it was 20% then asked her friend who also works there who said it was 25%.

This was the big Debenhams in Birmingham Bullring, so hopefully its not just there!"

  • Could you paint her legs green, that would do the trick and save you all that money in tights ! Use gloss, it won't wash off as easily, if it's emulsion you'll have to re-paint every morning. :D

I loathe bottle green with a passion - 7 years of school uniform in a colour that doesn't suit you leaves a lasting scar...lol.

M&S where selling off some of their schoolwear for a pound each last week, my mum bought sweatshirts and trousers in the Burnley store i think, might not be everywhere, but might be worth a look

Have you checked places like Matalan, Asda, Tesco and BHS?

Just got back from town, I have been in BHS,Matalan,Woolworths,Marks and Spencers, 2 Tesco Extra's, and there is absolutly nothing anywhere.
Havn't done Asda yet but have a feeling will have to get everything from John Lewis and pay over the odds .

The tights on Ebay are too small, I need age 13 to 14.
  • Bottle Green knickers - ugh!. When I was young, quite attractive schoolgirls would kill all naughty thoughts in a hormone-ridden lad when she did a handstand in them knickers. Now, just when I thought I'd finally got over them, someone has to bring it all up again!

Do you have a 'Big W' store near you? I know they closed some of their stores but ours changed to a woolworths clearance. I went last week and they were selling off the school uniforms cheaply.
