PC World will match prices on items elsewhere

Couldn't think of anywhere else to post this.
Went to buy a wireless router from PC World but it was £10 cheaper in a local Currys. (Weird as I thought Currys and PC World are owned by the same company!). At the counter I told the guy the name of the store that I had found the cheaper priced router at and he looked it up and gave it to me at the cheaper price as PC World have a policy of matching cheaper prices seen elsewhere.
Beware though - not all Currys stores have the same prices - the one virtually adjacent to this PC World had the same routers for much more!
So the moral is ... always research first.

And read any small print. Theres normaly a get out clause. :money:I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.0 -
they should have also given you an extra 10% off- that's what their price promise at the counter states.
also if you reserve and collect the prices can be a lot cheaper than the instore price.
I bought a laptop for £100 cheaper just by going to the library first and reserving it, it before picking it up at the store.0 -
Prices in stores do not differ. it is one system one database therefore if the store does puts out new tickets they should always be right and if in one store they have a ticket saying 1.99 and in another at 2.99 nd the 2.99 is up to date that store does not do it at 1.99 as they have not got it incorrectly prices. and yes PCWorld, currys and dixons are same company but will not match dixons price as they are no virtually tax free.0

If you collect in store do you pay the Web Exclusive Price?0

I purchased some software once from PC World and they price matched to Amazon and gave me an extra 10% of the difference.0

The best i ever did with PC world was against some hard drives - hitachi 1TB. PCW price 199.99 - amazon price 93.99 -I had to travel as far east as lincoln from Nottingham and they seemed to take it personally that they not only had to Price Match but give me an additional 10% on top. Then a week later I did the same and had to travel all the way to Telford - nice day out (seen the iron bridge) was in the store over an hour arguing:mad: with the staff and store manager who then refered the decision to there local area manager who agreed that that I should have the drives.:D
I was gonna try it again in manchester but the web-site went all stupid - it still is - but hay-ho 2 out of three aint bad;)
If you can get one over them then do it and stand your ground. I know you can get 1TB samsungs for @ £86 - ebuyer but at the time the drives were the cheapest around:T
As for web-pricing - reserve the item at the web-price then go in-store armed with your price-match (be carefull they are and can be keen with who they PM against) take the item to the till BUT DO NOT show them the reserve ticket cause they will charge you the web-price which sometimes is cheaper - then point out the difference ie actual store price (normally alot dearer) and your price match - hey presto even more savings:rotfl: HTH!!:TA shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

I thought this was common knowledge. There are plenty of big signs around my store that advertise this offer. Currys do the same!
Here it is on their website:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/editorial/price-match-promise
"Websites: items sold by Amazon.co.uk*, Argos, Asda, B&Q, Comet, Dabs*, Dell, Evesham Technology*, Game, Gamestation, Halfords, HMV, Jessops, John Lewis, Maplin, Misco*, Play*, Staples, Tesco, Toys r Us, Virgin, Woolworths"
Great for getting them to price match games offers at play.comBeing bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0
