How did you pay? There's probably proof on a credit card or bank statement.
It's only three months old, used once and has proved to be not fit for purpose, take it back. Even if it is condensation or contact with the material I doubt the water would pour down inside the tent to the degree you claim plus the stitchings starting to fail in way of the zip, which must also be poor quality if it needs to be forced.

People who sell tents must gets loads of people trying to take them back at the end of the camping season...

What is the hydrostatic head on it?

It should say 1000, 2000 etc...

The higher the HH, the better the resistance to water.

Have to agree with Dave though (there's a first!), the tent didn't leak. A leak would be a small hole or split somewhere, where the water would drip or pour through.

Don't ever let anything touch or rest against the walls inside the tent when it's been raining/is raining.

It's not necessarily condensation. Tents can be leaky. And if it is leaky Tesco should at least provide some kind of compensation - I wouldn't expect more than a £20 gift card.

Most of the time this happens because the tent has been put up properly with enough effot to make sure the outer layer is tight to try and prevent it touching the inner layer.

    You's expect a £20 giftcard for that.

    Spoilt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It appears you are an experienced camper so would know all about condensation/contact and the difference between that and leaks?

!!!!!!!! is it not fit for purpose or the op's an experienced camper!! You can tell that because they obviously didn't put enough effort into making the outer layer tight enough.

I've put up lots and lots of tents and know how to do this properly. Of course the inner and outer walls must not touch!

But when the wind is howling and the rain is just hitting against the tent then the outer wall does get pushed against the inner wall and there is nothing that can be done about that.

Condensation I hear someone say? Well funny how the previous night there was no condensation and how this is the first time ever I've experienced condensation in a tent in over 20 years of camping! In fact so much so - that there were puddles seen inside the tent after we had lifted the mattres out.

Also if the water came through due to the fact that it were the outer and inner layer touching, why then was it coming through the inner entrance / exit part when the outer part was far elevated and did not whatsoever touch anything else?

It's like saying put a raincoat on but whatever you do you musn't let it touch your clothes otherwise they will get wet! :rotfl::confused: :rotfl:

Well thats the wind then. If you don't like the effects the British weather has on camping then as Dave Brooker said, use a hotel next time!

Cornwall has been very, very, very wet this year.

I'm surprised with 20 years camping experience you would even think of buying a tesco tent for anything other than a laugh or a kids play tent for summer.

I can recommend Vango tents amongst others. The exquinox range were good but have probably been replaced.

No it's not. They're made out of different material. Tents can be quiet cheap (for the size of material you get) and for this costs will need to be kept down when making them. No doubt a tent from Tesco is basically bottom of the range compared to some you might by from a specialist camping shop. If tents had the layers a raincoat had they'd cost 10 times more. You can pay 10 times more for a tent but if you wanted to do that you wouldn't had bought it from Tescos would you!

Another vote here for Vango. I just spent 5 nights in our 10 year old orange Force 10 tent and there were no leaks there and being cotton it was toasty and warm. But there is a huge gap between the outer and the inner so even if the wind blows or there is luggage shoving out the walls they will still not touch. It is heavy though so not suitable really for backpacking unless you are splitting the load between several people.

My advice if you really enjoy camping is to buy a decent tent. It is worth trying to get your money back from Tesco especially if it is a branded Teso tent.

At the festival I was just at - a stall was selling T shirts with the Tesco red and blue logo but it said FIASCO!!! Priceless! :D
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

    Peace, love and labradors!
