Tumble Dryers

Hi i need a new tumble dryer. I just want to get the cheapest possible. Where is the best place to look for one online? It's bank holiday monday tomorrow so i was wondering if it would be better to go into a shop as they usually have sales on?
Whats everyones opinion buy online or go shopping tomorrow?
Thanks

  • I always buy electricals online or at least get the online price so that I can haggle. Look on Comet and Currys sites and check for online codes. Then see if it will be cheaper in the shops. Bear in mind the delivery charge unless you are collecting it. White Knight is generally the cheapest make followed by indesit. There may well be some holidaay specials in the stores though. Research tonight and go prepared tomorrow but be prepared to return empty handed. I got my silver grey hotpoint reverse tumble online for about the same price as cheaper white ones in the shops. Its going to last a while so cheapest isnt always best. If they offer you interest free credit on it then you may be better off getting what you really want rather than the cheapest.

dont forget to consider the energy rating as well, ours is a cheap whirlpool with a C rating (not very good) and using one of those Maplins energy testers that were available recently it costs 30p a load (well stuffed, 90 minutes).
Does anyone have any data regarding class A tumble driers so OP could work out if it is better to pay more for an A class or less for a lower class depending on the amount of times they use it?

We have a White Knight GAS tumble dryer for the last four years, it was the wisest investment we have made ever. The installation needs Corgi-registered gas plumber (so add another £50-80), but the running cost is nearly one-third to one fourth of an electric one. Takes less time to dry as well. We have used it nearly every day (in Manchester weather) without even a single problem. I would highly recommend it, it would recoup your investment in no time.
