Aussie Hair stuff

Hi, hope this is the right section!
Noticed in Superdrug the other day that Aussie hair products are all on 2 for £6 but decided not to get any. Went in to Tescos today to see if they had any offers on it and found that it's all something like £1.50 off meaning that most things work out at £3 each and a few of the shampoos/conditioners are only around £2.25!
Hope that'll be of use to someone!

I used to use Aussie products and found that they gave my hair a great shine.
Then I noticed a change in the condition of my hair (for the worse). When my hairdresser asked me what I used she told me that in the longer term they can damage the hair because they are so heavy and highly perfumed.
I've since binned all my Aussie stuff and now buy stuff from a shop selling 'professional' products. I know there is a lot of overpriced rubbish out there but you generally get what you pay for.
(and before someone says ... no the hairdresser did not try to get me to buy their salon products instead!!)Norn Iron Club Member 330

my hairdresser recommended it to me as my hair was damaged from straightening! I only stopped using it as it was too expensive!0

oh i love aussie. its by far the best on my hair.
found some of the conditioners in poundland on 2 for £1, then they withdrew the offer so £1 each. still a bargain. (this was in cheltenham)Wins since June: iPod shuffle 1gb, Samsung g800, cinema ticket, lush retro giftbox, 2x mp3 downloads, a big box of food (???)0 -
Waitrose offer at moment is 2 for £5, ends tomorrow....0

I think the Aussie shampoos etc are the best non-professional products on the market, but I tend to switch between different types (eg volume/miracle moist/skip a step etc) every week so that probably prevents any build-up.
I used to use the professional brands and they are good but SO expensive.0 -
I don't think there is anything in Aussie shampoos that will actually damage your hair. I've found lots of products which seem great at first lose their effect after prolonged use. May be it's because my hair changes in that time or it's product build up. I agree with on a money mission, I get the best results by regularly alternating products.0

I seem to recall that their shampoos use Sodium Lauryl Sulfate as their detergent, which is a rather strong skin irritant (as is all the perfume in their products too). It won't damage your hair, but it will dry out and irritate your scalp.
It is best to avoid products containing this ingredient, and look for the much gentler Sodium Laureth Sulfate instead.0 -
Ugh. Sounds lovely doesn't it.
I did a Google search and was really shocked with what I read is in Aussie hair products

I certainly won't be trying Aussie stuff again and I'm definately going to start reading the back of the bottles before I buy my next shampoo.Norn Iron Club Member 330
