Generally speaking, I've worked for catalogue companies and it's bloody hard work for pretty much b****r all pay or commission! I tink it's an outmoded way of getting orders, an outdated way of marketing and long past it's sell by date. But that's only my opnion. Good luck.'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

Some of the other catalogue companies could be worth a look. I'm just starting work with the body shop. Although their systems are set up primarily for people to do party plan selling they are happy for you to do whatever you want, that includes door to door catalogue drops. It's unlikely that there will be anyone in your area already doing it so you may be competing with avon but probably not with another body shop rep. catalogues last 3 months and cost £5 for a pack of 20 at the beginning of that period, dropping to less as you near the end of it. You get 25% of all sales. With that you could link up with another local body shop rep who does do parties and come to an agreement that if your customers want a party you'll give her the details and she'll give you a percentage of takings at the party? Or you just tell anyone who asks that sorry you can't do parties at the moment but you'll note their details and contact them if that ever changes?
I'm sure that body shop won't be the only company this is true for, you could look at pampered chef and any number of other ones. I just thought I'd point out that it isn't only the traditional catalogue companies that can operate in that way. PM me if you want more info on body shop.0 -
I have to say betterware was damn hard work, it was actually my fiancee who took it on because he was out of work for 6mths and things were desperate. We went for betterware because of the no cost to us approach, but we soon realised it was a lot of work and i ended up getting dragged into it and helping him out once id finished my days work.
Our house became swamped with stuff, boxes of catalogues, bags, little notes to put through peoples doors if you missed them being home etc. When you live in a 2 bed flat like we do, space is everything. We just had no where for the damn stuff.
He made a bit of money from it, we were quiet impressed with the orders we were getting, but we live in a village so the elderly in particular liked ordering stuff. We had a few rude people leave the book out with notes on it, it big letters and some people if they were in the garden etc and we said we were collecting the books back were like, oh i just bin em waste of time.
He only did it for 4 weeks and made about £60 a week, which was better than nothing. But i have to say i was thrilled to bits when he finally got a job and was able to stop doing it, i have my space back....Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
I am not a huge fan of Kleeneze because of the ways it operates - if the other thread was still open, I could point you to it.
- No fixed area
- Risk of books and orders being taken by other agents
- Upline caring/not caring about stolen books reports is 50:50, even though they have procedures for this
- Poorly-worded adverts (this is the fault of agents rather than Kleeneze HO, but they do not seem to be doing much about it) that suggest you can start with just delivering and collecting books, but what they want is an order processing agent
- Some agents can be pushy, contacting you every day to get your answer

The thread is closed but you can still read the posts, for and against.....my advice having done Kleeneze is to go for Avon or Betterware for short term money for Christmas without as much hassle with other agents..
