£5 off empirestores - no min order

  • I recently (3wks ago?), got a leaflet with codes, one was for 20% off £50 spend, for being a 'Valued' customer for 20 odd years!
I ordered an item (treadmill) and it took off discount at checkout.
When my invoice arrived they'd charged me, but it didn't come till I'd set it up and had a go............................and chucked out the packaging!!!
So I emailed them complaining, and they said it wasn't to their T&C's. I asked 'what does being a valued customer for all those years actually mean then, and I'd already thrown away the packaging'.
They wouldn't give me the 20% off the £69.99 treadmill, so I asked how to send it back without original packaging.
Got an email saying to 'put it anything and someone will call in the next 3 days'.
So they've lost my sale, for not giving me blinking 20%, on something I wanted. Cutting off my nose comes to mind!
First time they've ever done that to me. :(

  • LL, Hope you had a good go on it before you sent it back lol

I wonder where it will go now, I don't know what companies do with their returns-someone told me they burnt all the clothes that got sent back!
    All credit cards paid off.

  • Is it just me who is Empire's "most valued customer" even though i've only placed 3 small orders in 13 months?

This week I have received 3 different discount codes ranging from £5 off to 20% off and today I've been offered 25% off plus 12% commisson and a free sim card reader!

    They must be desperate man....

The £5 off worked for me but not for his account. I also placed 2 other orders using codes that came up on his account (no choices with my account for some reason). I googled to look for another code and found one, when I typed it in it gave me £15 off and a 24 piece dinner set! OMG! Will it go through? It seemed to accept it-or do you think I will get an email saying I shouldn't have tried the code?
Can any one have codes for Empire £15 off or else appreciated. thanks

Whenever I try entering those codes I don't know what the user ID is, also I always get 'invalid' messages...

    Has anyone got a good'un?
No reliance should be placed on the above.

No, you are just a common customer :p

I have only ever placed one order with them, and that was using a £15 off a £30 purchase. They tell me I am one of their "most valued customers" and so have sent me various discounts recently including £5off anything (I see lots of others have had that 'unique offer too). In the words of Julie Parker, their Customer Care Manager, that was because their call centre has "been achieving low service levels"

Also had 30% off codes and today one of "up to almost 37.5% " plus the free SIM Card backup device.

It appears the less you spend, the more valued you are! :D

Edit: It appears the 37.5 % is made up of 25% discount plus 10% cash commission or 12.5% commission in goods. :o

You'd have thought Julie would have got the letters reprinted rather than scribbling all over everyones wouldn't you :D

So how do you order the Free SIM card reader?
It says order online and quote the appropriate code.
I can't see any code to quote

The last paragraph of the letter says that as an extra benefit, you'll receive an innovative SIM CARD BACKUP DEVICE when you place your order online at https://www.empirestores.co.uk.

So I think it's all in one code if you order online.
No reliance should be placed on the above.
  • I've never used Empire Direct before so am going to register.

Does anyone want me to say i was refered by them, you may get something for your troubles?!

    :T
  • Just a quick note, they don't burn the clothes you send back at all, they resell them to companies such as https://www.gemdiscounts.co.uk and companies just the same.
