Continuous Phone Calls from Banks

Hi sorry for starting a new thread but i couldn't find an appropriate topic to post this in!!
Basically my parents are having money problems, they are in the process of sorting it and are awaiting for their house to be sold and then they can pay of the mortgage and any profit will pay of business loans etc. They have done the sensible thing of ringing their creditors and explained their scenario. Most banks and companies have been really understanding. However one major bank has been really un sympathetic, to the point of 9 phone calls at least a day, starting at 0800 through to 2100 Every day of the week!! Sometimes every 15 mins!! The parents are screening their calls, but they have tried on numerous occasions to explain their situation, and yet these calls keep happening. If i had the money i would pay the bank for them but i dont.
I am on leave at the minute so i only have to put up with it during the duration of my leave but you can imagine what a toll these phone call are taking on my parents, they have looked at changing their number but have told me that it would cost to do that and besides it is also their business number so that would mean the expense of reprinting all their literature etc
Anyone know how to deal with these phone calls?? It is taking a toll on their health now!!
Thanks for your time!!

Hi there
There is a a section on the national debtline website http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/factsheet.php?page=03_harassment
that might be of use, there are also template letters on the site that you can download and use. Your parents can insist that the companies only deal with them in writing.

There are a lot of different response letters for harassment by telephone floating around. This is just one example:
Harassment by telephone
You may wish to add that this is a "statutory notice under s10 of the Data Protection Act 1998" and that they require the creditor to remove the telephone number from their records.Your Street

Dear Sirs,
Harassment by telephone
Account Number: XXXXXXX
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing.
I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls. (Delete if necessary)
I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only.
I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.
Please treat this also as a formal complaint, and send me a copy of your company complaints procedure.
Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be recorded. (**Even if you don‘t yet have recording equipment!!**)
Yours faithfully,

hi thanks guys, all really helpful advice!! 3 phone calls already this morning and its only 0840!!!, So a letter is now in the post, fingers crossed it works!!
Poorandindenial, although i obviously know they are having problems, they have not discussed in detail what they owe to each creditor with me. It is mainly business as far as i am aware, and i know it all stems from their accountant not paying taxes and not doing the books properly, he has since done a runner!!0
