if someone else applied for and used cards in your name, then that is fraud, pure and simple. you shouldn't owe a penny! contact the creditors involved and explain the situation.

I hope that you are not considering paying the debts that this guy ran up in your name..

Do as Idiot and Skintchick have suggested and call the police AND the creditor in question.

I would not advise taking out a loan to pay off your debts cause a loan is a debt...but maybe someone else can advise you on that. Work out your monthly income /expenditure or better still list it here so somone can take a look at it and advise you.

You are porbably in a state of shock right now after confronting your debt, but that is normal and you will panic to begin with.. take a deep breathe and contact CAB who will be able to help. Also read some of the posts on this site... there are so many people on here who can offer you advice. and support.

Check out the sites below to see how much you should pay and to whom and contact your creditors, write to them if you dont want to call them or meet with them...

Is there a time scale in which they have to do it by? My main concern is that he has left it too late and the Police will wonder why he didnt say something sooner and may presume he is trying to get out of a debt he ran up himself.

    Back to your commetn above..

Yes maybe there is a time frame.. but if he can prove that he left the accommodation and was not aware until now that may give him some footing..
