Reclaiming credit card fees.

I have had a few calls recently from a company called 7Market, saying that new legislation may render any loans or credit cards I took out between 2001 and 2007 to have been flawed and that I may be entitled to big rebates from creditors I have paid off from that period.
The bloke mentions sommat called the "Unenforcable Debts Act", something like that.
He said it was a free service they provided, that they would take a percentage of anything I received and nowt at all if I was unsuccessful.
It all sounded very plausible until he said I would need to pay him £149 over the phone there and then.....that money to be repaid at the end of the prcoedure to recover money, or not.
Is threre any merit in this at all?

I am a long term reader of this message board and hardly ever post but yours has compelled me to do so. There is NO way oyu should pay anything up front, even if it is repaid at the end. I don't know if this firm is holding itself out as a Solicitor but either way there is no way you should pay anything up front.
It is up to you if you want to find another firm that does it really No Win No Fee, or indeed you could try sending a few letters yourself.
However, if you pay this £149 up front I doubt you will ever hear from the Company again! And if you do have several loans and cards I presume this is the last thing you need!!
I would try sending some letters myself if you really think your loans etc are flawed. And I would try to work out where 7Market got your personal details, and get them removed!0 -
Hi there,
I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole to be honest. If you've had bank or credit card charges, then visit the 'reclaim £1,000s' tab at the top of this web page, it will give you a step by step guide what to do. I'm in the process of doing it just now, and the instructions on here are great - they even have the template letters.
At least that way you don't have to pay upfront, and you get to keep the full amount that you get back.
Good luck!0
