    The rights she has are the same as any other worker. They would be unlikely to sack her, as already stated, if she has a clean disciplinary record. They have to follow the same disciplinary proceddure as with any other worker, be they older, younger, black, white, male, female, gay, straight, christian, muslim or whatever. The fact she is a 16 year old female is irrelevant. Is she in the union?

    Although highly unlikely, would they not be able claim that failing to attend work without good reason is gross misconduct? As much as I agree that the induction is more important to the individual, it's not on the same scale as a family emergency or being unable to attend due to illness. It could be argued that they've agreed to work those days as they've not given enough notice that they want them off, and although that isn't her fault it has been her decision totake on the extra activities knowing that they could clash with her work.

    Has she tried asking staff directly to swap with her?

    Is your daughter allowed any Annual Leave? If so she could use that.
    Otherwise take unpaid leave if that is an option.

  • does your daugher have a contract? if so go through that and find out about leave ect.
