TIMESHARE need help

in 1998 i rather foolishly bought a timeshare or a holiday ownership at a place called clube praia da oura, in Portugal.i bought it with my ex we have since split up and i am now happily married. i have never used this timeshare because the following year when i tried to book a fantastic holiday ( like they said i could) i was told a different story. as far as i am concerned they lied to me and i fell out with them. every year since then i have had to pay the maintenance fee which goes up every year and this year is £229.00. i allways wait for the threatening letter and give in and pay it. i am told they have me on a watertight contract and allways pay it because im scared if they send the bayliffs round. so far this year i have ignored all correspondence buts its getting a bit hairy what should i do. if any one wants it they can have it, even though it has cost me thousands but they will still want a silly ammount in administration charges.should i pay up or just ignore the threatening letters or hope someone will take it of my hands. thers lots more to this story but i dont want to bore you all with the details.

any advice would be very appreciated

I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

i was told not to buy silver or gold but to buy bronze because i allways booked my holidays six weeks before i wanted to go and not a year in advance. when i tried to book a holiday the following year the girl on the other end of the phone laughed at me saying all places were booked by mid january and i was too late all she could offer me was a week at a ski resort in the swiss alps in september. since that i have been told i should have bought at least silver and as a act of good will they would sell me silver at 1998 prices. its just lies after lies the web site you gave me is proberly in with them. i told you there was more to this story

If you paid on your credit card, you could get all your money back under Section 75 legislation.
  • What are the transfer costs involved if you sell to another party??

hi i dont know the exact cost but £400 rings a bell. i dont want any money for it if someone can make use of it they can have it. but you must pay a yearly maintenance charge of £229 thats this years charge, it goes up a little every year. they do charge an administration fee this is why i could'nt ask for any money, i dont think it would be fair. so far i have not paid this years maintenance and they are writing nasty letters. i really need to know what they will do, i am told i am on a water tight contract will they take me to court or send the bayliffs round. or will they not bother for such a small amount. if you have any more questions feel free to ask. kind regards.

This may be a start http://www.clube-praia-da-oura.co.uk/ (not connected with either the site or the 'club' by the way) - good luck.
