Before Dinner Grace?

Hi folks

Now here is a challenge, I have been asked to say grace before a function I am attending next week. So I am either looking for a Geordie phrased grace, or a humurous grace.

Thanks in advance.

may the school chickens be truly grateful.

Hate to be a bore but should a prayer be witty?? Gosh I do sound miserable, I'm not really just want to say that you may set the tone of things to follow............ now I sound like an old nag. Forget all this just say it how it comes LOL

But yes prayers should be less about the witty more about the sincerity but you were asking for humorous so see above. We were all sat down at the table once and my very religious mother asked a new friend to bless the food and he said 'rub a dub dub, thanks for the grub' we all screamed with laughing. He then gave a very sincere prayer which redeemed himself with my mam. Hence we laughed all the way through dinner.

Oh this does bring back awful memories...

I was a Sunday School teacher and the minister asked if one of my class would say the grace at the harvest thanksgiving lunch. I took the 14+ group. Picked one of our older lads and on the day he waved some paper at me and said he was "well sorted". (Perhaps I should mention that we had possibly the biggest Sunday school in the country with 40+ kids in the over 14 age group. Inspirational minister and great Sunday School Super ie, not always your normal church attender but good kids)

He stood up at the requisite time and said exactly that - Rub a dub dub, thanks for the grub. He sat down and said no more. The silence went on for ever - I was figuring out how I could leave the town, country, find a new job abroad etc etc. The minister stood up and then said how sometimes it's all about being simple and to the point and we should all take two minutes to give our own thanks.

Anyway - doesn't help the OP. Good Scottish grace is from Burns which would probably work well in a Geordie accent

    Some hae meat
    And cannae eat
And some wad eat that want it
    But we hae meat
    And we can eat
and so the Lord be thankit

    :rotfl:

We have always attended our church with our children and now they are adults they go with their families. When Rod Hull died, by falling off roof whilst adjusting TV ariel, my son in church the next day was asked to say the prayer he was about 15 at the time and said the usual stuff then completed the prayer by saving " heavenly Father please bless Emu that he isn't missing Rod too much"!!:rotfl: :rotfl: All his mates were struggling to not laugh but they failed and laughter was heard throughout the corridors of church that day I like the idea of the guy redeeming himself thats style to have a laug but then respect the moment.
