Does anyone know who i would contact regarding a new product (invention so to speak)

If you have got a reasonable amount of money to spend on this, then you should go down the route of securing a patent to protect your ideas from being copied although this is a very expensive procedure due to the fact that you have to get lawyers (patent attorneys) involved.
There are companies out there that can help you if you don't have the money available to secure the necessary patents (but obviously if your idea takes off, they'll take a cut of any profits). A friend is in the early stages of trying to get his invention to take off and has applied to Trevor Bayliss Brands for help in this way. As it's early days I can't comment on how he's found them but here's their website anyway (I'm sure there must be similar companies out there)
