Where can I get cheap fabric?

I'm looking to get approx 13 metres of thick curtain fabric, preferably chenille or similar. Just been to The Range and it's approx £11-12 per meter which I can't afford.
Any body got any ideas of who would do this kind of thing cheaper?
Thanks!

Do you have a Fabric Warehouse anywhere near you?
If not, check Yellow Pages for fabric places - there might be some in your area.
If you happen to live on the South Coast, there are two places that do super prices for fabric - Westhouse Textiles in Portsmouth and Farnborough, and another one whose name escapes in the Chichester Industrial estate. I am sure these sort of "warehouse" places can be found all over the country.
You could also try the web (incl ebay) but that's only good really if you know the exact name of the fabric, or if they do a swatch service. But swatch service is usually only available on the more expensive stuff.0 -
If your anywhere near birmingham rag market that used to be good but i havn`t been for a long while and also Dunelm stores stock fabric.0

Is there a market near you?
Our local weekly one usually has 2 fabric stalls, with many different materials on offer.
My b/f wanted some black PVC and got it much cheaper on the market than in a shop. Before anyone asks, he wanted it to make a cover to go round his mobile disco stand to hide all the wires! Here I go again on my own....0 -
youre right about the rag market in Birmingham, its great for fabric and well worth a day trip for the money you can save. I recently wanted some voile for my lounge windows and a few of the bedrooms and Dunelm wanted £5.99 a meter, so i went up to the market and paid £2 a meter for a much greater choice.ADOPT DONT SHOP......🐕🐕🐕🐕0

Thanks for all your replies. I'm in East Essex so too far from Birmingham and South Coast. But I didn't know about Fabric Warehouse - the website says there's one in Basildon. So I'm off to have a look at the weekend!New year, no debt! Debt free date - 02/01/07 :j :j :j0

Yes there is one near Basildon, think it's Vange ??
Also there used to be a big warehouse store near Rayleigh Weir.
Other than that there is someone who sells on ebay and I have to say the material looks beautiful - shambabyexclusivedesignerfabrics -. The feedback is very good aswell.

Thanks! Those fabrics look lovely! If I can't see anything at fabric warehouse then I'll be very interested.New year, no debt! Debt free date - 02/01/07 :j :j :j0
