i've a feeling in my gut that this may be a way of utilising copied/downloaded software rather than actual legal software.

that feeling was just trapped wind. this may still not be legal however.helpful tips

Unfortunately you are probably right, there are a minority that could use this application to recover illegal serial numbers on their own or other PC's but I stumbled on this to recover my legitimate purchased licence which it did.
