I've got to attend the above next Thursday as I've applied for a call centre job. They said I should allow 3 hours!!! Has anyone ever attended one of these and what can I expect? I'm getting really nervous about it.

I've attended many a call-centre assessment days and theyre not as scary as you may thing.
It's usually made up of three stages:
1 - Grammar and Mathematical tests...basically it's like a Year 7 school paper with you just being asked to select the right option for each question.
2 - Role Play...you'll be given some information on a sheet and then sit face to face with the interviewer and act out as if you were on a call. They don't expect you to know everything. They just want you to remember to say 'Good morning/afternoon, your speaking to ..... how may I help' and 'Thanks very much for your call and enjoy your day' etc.
3 - Competency Based Interview - They ask you questions and ask you for a specific example. Questions are usually:
*Can you tell me a time when you've gave excellent customer service?
*Can you tell me a time when you've worked to targets? And how did you get on with these.
*Can you tell me a time when you've worked as part of a team.
Thats about it really, hope this helps!0 -
Thanks for that. I HATE role play!!! So it'll just be me then? I had visions of me and loads of other job applicants doing those scary team building exercise things!Getting older is inevitable, growing up is optional :rotfl:0

Maybe not for the grammar tests, these people usually interview people in groups of 6-8...so everyone is doing a different part of the interview at a different time.
The competency based interview and role play will be on your own, as they don't want you getting or seeing anybody elses answers. A long as your questions relate loads to helping people and being able to work as a team, you'll get the job...thats what they always look for0 -
Thanks. I'll let you know how it goes! eek :-)Getting older is inevitable, growing up is optional :rotfl:0
