Dulux paintpod half price - bank hol weekend

This was advertised in a national paper as going for £34 at B&Q over the weekend. After checking out some of the mixed reviews, some may be pleased about this, maybe others think it's a reflection of some build issues. However, for anyone interested, thought it was worth a try at 34 spondoolies rather than 70.

This is a good spot but I have to be honest, everyone I know who has bought one has ended up returning it. Still, as you say, at this price it could be worth a shot.0

Has anyone any experience of using one? I'm a bit put off by some of the reviews I've read on the internet.
However, some actually say it's fairly good
Has anyone out there actually had a good time with this roller system? Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. :A0 -
I was considering it up until I realised that you had to use paint specifically formulated for it, I'm gussing that this is going to add up to a healthy premium over the years, akin to filling up ink jet cartridges !
I can see them selling these for below cost before long because they know they are on to a winner by forcing you to use there paint !

The disadvantage i can see is the price of paint as you must use the paint pod paints:
Regular dulux white paint is about £20 for 10Litres
Paint pod version white £20 for 5L
Paint Pod coloured paint is £30 for 5L
which is not to bad but you could be limited with the colours, possible if you were looking at some of the more fancy paints like farrow & ball, 1829, fired earth0 -

i wondered if it was a certain paint that theyd want you to use with it, still worth its money i reckon tho, if it saves the time and trouble of having to rebuy a load of brushes etc0 -
As a B&Q employee who has trialled the Paintpod, I can only recommend it, but as a sneaky tip, you CAN refill the containers with any other paint, but you MUST water it down first or it will clog the pipe.
The paint pod paint is very thin to enable it to go through the pipe, you see. The only paint that won't need watering down is the budget stuff that costs about 20p for 100 litres! :rotfl: You know the sort I mean though
If I hadn't just decorated all my house last year I would deffo buy one (spesh as we also get 20% staff discount on top
)
I'm the sort who always gets covered in paint when rollering and was surprised that whilst giving a demo the other day I got no splatters on me whatsoever. Not even a tiny one!
So a thumbs up from me at the current price - not worth £70 though IMHO

Oh yes, and the cleaning of it is fab too, it really does just take 10 mins (as long as you don't leave it without using it for 3 days like we did!)

It's just a bit cumbersome with regards to taking up space, but other than that, a quick set up and VERY quick and easy to use.
And no, we aren't on any form of commission either!!!

Also, AFAIK we at Derby have only had one returned as it was 'faulty' (allegedly...) and have sold pallets full since 7am yesterday, so if you are considering buying then do so - you have 3 months to return it if you change your mind - as long it it's unused of course!0
