Hair Dilemma

Quite a while back I had a hair and make up trial which cost me £80 and was a complete disaster (LOL!).

After that, I decided that I would do my own make up and go to my usual hairdresser on the morning of the wedding for them to put my hair up. They booked me in for a trial in May and verbally quoted me £30. My normal hairdresser isn't keen on doing wedding hair so booked me in with one of the other girls who is great and has put my hair up before/cut my hair while my normal lady was on maternity leave. I went along for my trial which wasn't long enough (1 hour) for which they charged £36. I was a bit miffed but didn't say too much as that's around the same price they charge for a cut and blow dry. They suggested I book another appointment a bit closer to the time to finalise exactly what I wanted. I made the appointment for this Saturday (23 Aug).

Anyway, I went to have my hair cut on Tuesday night only to be told by my normal hairdresser that my wedding hairdresser is pregnant and she had moved my trial and wedding day appointment (4 Oct) to one of the other girls. I didn’t really know what to say at the time but now I feel upset and really annoyed, not at the fact that she moved my appointment but because nobody could even be bothered to even ring me. I wouldn’t mind but I’ve been to this salon for about six years now and my wedding hairdresser’s baby isn’t even due until December.

I don’t know which way to turn now. Part of me wants to tell them to stick it and find a hairdresser closer to my venue and part of me tells to leave it as it is to avoid creating further work for myself. My main concern with staying with them is that I am worried I will still be seething on the morning of the wedding!

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

  • I'm getting married in Hurley, near Maidenhead, Berkshire.

I don't mind travelling to a hairdresser but want somewhere that's easy to park. If travelling I'd prefer Bourne End, Wooburn Green, Flackwell Heath, Marlow as I know those areas.

  • I would keep the appointment booked hun but look round for something else and when you get something else cancel x

    That suck's Speckled Egg :(

You would think that smaller details like hairdressing would go smoothly!! Personally, I would probably stick with them for the wedding, but don't leave a tip :p

I would be inclined to ask for another trial for free if the hairdresser who did the original trial is not going to be available for the wedding.
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • I actually emailed the salon cancelling all my appointments with a brief explanation to which I received a very nice reply from the salon owner.

She said that they hadn't rung me as she said they know how stressful weddings are and thought it would be better if my normal hairdresser explained to me face to face to check if it would be okay to transfer the appointment. She has obviously needed to backtrack to make it sound good but it wasn't what actually happened. It was more of a case of, "Did she ring you? Oh well, I kept reminding her then she asked me to, blah, blah, blah, but I said it wasn't my responsibility.....".

Unfortunately, my Nan has been very ill and my Dad is seriously ill so I am probably more sensitive than normal. In light of that and the fact that I only have six weeks until we get married, I have decided to stick with the salon to save myself any further stress! The salon owner did mention a complimentary trial which helped to sway my decision!

    Thanks for your comments.
