My guess: A vehicle drives around town with a digital camera, taking photos every few seconds. The system logs the rough location of each photograph (using GPS), and finds which businesses are near each photo (using a business directory). The photos then have to be vetted for suitability (for advertising), and that's a human task.
For a small town it might be efficient to take a single good photo for each shop, but for a large town or range of towns this might work out better.0 -
I did 500 hits the other day, made approx $14 and withdrew to my amazon account but theres a slight problem.
It adds the funds to Amazon.com not Amazon.co.uk. I wanted to buy a DVD with the funds but obviously I can only get Region 1 DVDs from Amazon.com.
I emailed the Mechanical Turk Team asking if they could transfer the gift balance to my Amazon.co.uk account but they said they couldnt..... so beware!0 -
There was a thread on another forum that I frequent that had this link and about 20-25 pages of posts about it (including some very amusing captures from these photo's)...!!
But if I recall, it is indeed only available to obtain credits towards the American Amazon.com site and only transferable to US bank accounts... Not sure if you can order from the .com site, but even if so I would imagine the shipping charges to be quite exciting...
Sorry...:("Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

Sorry...:(
I ordered a book for my MIL from the amazon.com site (not available here - it was to do with some Irish bishop having loads of kids) - and it arrived no problems with customs etc.0 -
I've been doing this for a couple of hours and so far have $13.03 - not bad!
The gift certificates are for amazon.com and not .co.uk as has already been mentioned and you can spend them on books, dvds and CDs without any problems.
If anyone does decide to give it a go, I'd recommend signing up to http://www.turking.com/ as well. There's a forum section there whch is helpful with tips etc and a very useful FAQ page.

I think its just the luck of the draw, i guess if you are on dial up then you dont have a lot of chance of getting anything as they seem to go in no time at all...?
I've been on there a while and its strangely addictive! Can anyone tell me how the total credit relates to the number of HITS?
cos at the moment my credit says this:
Total Earned: $0.97
Total HITs Submitted: 66
but even if they were price at $0.02 each (and i have done some at $0.03 s should be higher) then my Total Earned shoule be higher than $1.32 surely?
I personally like the photos better than the album covers but they take a wee while longer!
Thanks OP, this has kept me out of mischeif for a bitOfficial DFW Nerd 2100 -
