i want to help others in debt..

Hey, I dont really know if this is the right place to post this..but here goes..

I have verged to almost bankcrupsy but mangaged to some how get on top of everything. i have worked really really hard on my own to get things back to an even keel. Luckily I ve had some great support and I ve been very pro-active because of this. i have used every resource and scrap of energy to claw my way out of it and i am finanlly coming out on top.

After all this i feel i ve learnt an awful awful lot, and i would really like to help other people in debt or financial trouble. What I was wondering is, does anyone know how i could go about this. I ve been in touch with my local CAB offices and they are really interested but mainly take voluteers. My problem is i would need to be paid for it..

i think that there should be more government funding for advising young people on money matters. I am a real people person, i am youngish (28) and i would love to run some sort of drop in debt centre or to go around universities or businesses and help people. I am educated to degree level and i ve got quite a good CV. This is something I feel really passinantely about. Especially after reading the posts on this website - a lot of people need help and advice.

Has anyone got any ideas ............thanks in advance!! x:o

...failing the above i could always help martin on tv and be his sidekick - he seems very busy these days!!!!!
 :D

  • Try the CCCS or CAB. They may only have full time office jobs though but at least it is dealing with people.

As I work in finance my company is going round schools and I have been asked to go along with them so this would be really good for me. Maybe you could suggest it to your employer?

I think some of the charities have those sort of jobs.
But there's more than experience required.
you'd need knowledge of the laws etc

have a look at their web-sites

    Hello,

Just had a quick read of your post. There is a gap in the market as a whole for this type of thing, and money advice is a much needed life skill as we all know. I am unable to help with the setting up of a business, but I have attached a link to a government run website called Business Link .

    Good luck in your venture.

I am a Debt Counsellor that works for the CCCS and have specific permission from Martin, to post on these boards to try and help those in debt. Read more information on the CCCS and what it does in the Debt Problems: What to do and where to get help article.

CCCS is a registered charity, and there is no charge whatsoever for any of the services we provide to our clients. We take great pride in offering first class help and advice, but we only offer this where we have been able to fully explore and understand your circumstances with you. We want to help you understand these choices and their possible implications but not make them for you.
