I am trying to help my friend who moved to this area about 3 years ago after spllitting up with her husband in Scotland. It seems she was given some dodgy advice from a solicitor about what she could expect out of the divorce and bought a house based on that. Obviously things havent gone according to plan. Her house has been up for sale for 2 1/2 years. with several offers but all have fallen through, the last one took nearly 6 months and fell through at the last minute. She is a primary teacher, unable to get a permanent job, and not much supply work coming in,She is on anti depressants etc, and as you can imagine she is a mental wreck.
We have discussed things so many times, going round in circles and now she has an appointment with CAB but only in September. They are going to write letters for her to her creditors (approx £20,000) and close her accounts. She has another buyer for the house if it goes through. but she cannot afford the mortgage in September.
Is this the best way to go? Does anyone else have any other suggestions? She is at her wits end and I dont know enough to help her make any decisions. Although I thought there where some letters on here to send to creditors but I cant find them.

i think there are template letters on the National Debtline Website (the details are on the top of this board I think) which you could send off without the need for CAB etc to get involved.
There are plenty on here doing their own Debt Management Plan with letters such as this, so you, and your friend, should be in good company here.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
