Help! Scorch mark on Persian Rug!!

My Mum has accidentally scorched a persian rug with an electric heater :eek: (she was worried about it being damp after my Dad used my Vax on it, not realising it would dry perfectly well on its own!).
Is there any way of getting rid of the mark that anyone knows of, or at least making it less visable? My dad has already tried rubbing the scorch marks with wire wool and white spirit.
