What's with Halifax?!

Hello!
I read very interesting review here, which stated that Halifax is the best option while creating a student account. However, if you look e.g. here: http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews34903.html these opinions are completely different.
Has anybody had a student account and could solve this problem? I mean, right now I have completely no idea whether to trust Halifax or not...
Thank you for your help!
Best regards,
Theriel

I've never had any problems with HBOS. Yes, it's true that they won't give you the full overdraft upon application, but after keeping the account for a while they may up the limit. A cheque book can actually come in handy, I've used mine. Got my debit card soon after applying and then a few weeks later got my credit card.0

The terms of their student account are very good, but most actual students are likely to be declined. And their levels of customer service and accuracy are worse than most. Basically, steer clear of them unless you know that you have an unusually high credit score.0

Maybe I got lucky. When I applied I think the only thing I had going for me was that I was on the electoral roll and had a job. I didn't have anything else but they gave me it no problem. They might be a bit more strict this year though.0

Halifax are TERRIBLE for their student account, each year that started charging me interest and demanded proof I was a student, time after time, despite being on a 4 year degree.
NatWest on the other hand, no problems from day one, and I still have my interest free overdraft 3 years after graduating for some reason!
Good Luck!0
