Scotcall...

Well, I'm finally getting somewhere with my debts, I'm waiting for some full and final settlements to come back etc so I'm on course to sort everything out HOWEVER!

I've received a letter from Scotcall and its a doorstop collection notice - now i've emailed them and sent them a hard copy of a letter a fellow MSE sent me the template too (explaining I wasn't sure I owed them money) but now I'm confused...

As far as I was aware NCO were dealing with this debt, so now I'm unsure who I need to be dealing with NCO or Scotcall......??

Does anyone have any advice on this or should I just wait for their response? Will they send someone to my home if they receieve a letter from me??

Thanks
X

    Hi
I received a letter from Scotcall a while back regarding my Barclaycard debt. I think creditors use Scotcall to send their field agents. I would deal with NCO rather than Scotcall.

  • Right, well do you think I should send scotcall a letter as well or just ignore them?

I would send a letter to both just in case.

For the moment, I would 'ignore' them. It is, actually, considered very bad practice for any creditor to use more than one dca to pursue the same debt, at the same time:

In the unlikely event that 'Scotcall', or their representatives, do turn up at your house, please remember that they will have about the same 'legal powers' as a paper boy. You do NOT have to let them into your house. They have absolutely no power to sieze, or threaten to sieze, any of your goods and they must leave immediately, as soon as you ask them to.

If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

fuschia - yep don't want to alarm you but Scotcall did send someone to me, so I guess it's best to cover your options.

Even if they do, you just tell them to "bog off", and call the police if they don't. ;)

Well I think someone called today as I was in the bath and the door went so obviously didn't open it do you know if they'd leave a card through the door?they didn't leave anything but waited quite a while and drove off (heard car and saw it drive away but didn't recognise it).

I've still not heard from them re my letter!
