Has anyone made a cardbox?

Hello all,
I think I'm going to make a cardbox up for my mum and fill it with cards I've made for all occassions, I just can't seem to find the inspiration to make the box! Has anyone made one before or bought one?
Thanks in advance
Helen x

I haven't made one but I'm wondering if it would be easier to decorate a shoe box?
You could get a childs size one and then used scrapbooking papers (loads of free ones online if you don't have them) to personalise it.
Or, depending on the size of the cards you have made, you could get a bigger shoe box and place dividers inside, to separate them by occasion?
It should be easy enough to get one from a shoe shop, I'd have thought? You may want to act quickly before the shoe box appeals start in earnest though!
Otherwise, a photo or dvd box may work (depending on the size and number of cards again). There are some very pretty ones about but it obviously wouldn't be personal.0 -
Hi Helen, I've put together two card boxes to give as Xmas presents:

The boxes themselves were £4.99 each from a local craft store. I tried to make cards to cover lots of occasions: birthday, thank you, get well, sorry, wel done, congratulations, new baby, wedding, some without a message... I mostly used 'stuff' that I had already but I did buy a pack of Papermania words that I used on lots of the cards and some decoupage bits so I could make a variety of different cards. Since taking the photos I have added a few more cards including a couple of cross stitched ones.
Someone on this board posted this link and I think the idea is fab, need to make less cards too! http://jackietopa.typepad.com/addicted_to_stamping/2008/05/stationary-box.html.
This site has also been posted and this is another idea... http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100158
I think a card box makes a lovely present and very useful too

Your cards are gorgeous, Rainmac - how did you make the little badgers(?) on the card in the middle of the 2nd picture?
That little stationery set that she makes in that video is really lovely, and so simple looking to make!
Not sure about making matching envelopes though! (?)

Hi Sal, I agree with you about making envelopes, I wouldn't have a clue! The badgers were on a decoupage sheet. Sorry can't remember from where, I'll have a think. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
I love this idea and I will be using it for my mums christmas present as I find it hard to know what to buy an 87yr old she has lovely clothes and her only hobby apart from cleaning!! is reading so a card box plus a hamper of books will be great for her. Thanks again for the idea.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

I have small shoe boxes from DDs old shoes... But irritatingly the square cards don't fit in them... She will need new shoes in September so maybe the box will be big enough this time...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls...
