tax refund agencies

I have recently come across "Tax Buddies" who offer to check if you are due a tax refund if you do PAYE. On closer inspection it seems they take a whopping 40% of any refund given. Are there any better ones or is it better (but easier??) to approach Inland Revenue direct?

  • Don't touch them with a very long barge pole - the Revenue are generally very helpful and will sort out any refund necessary - 100% of which will go to you

Definately don't go through a refund agency. Why pay someone an extortionate amount when you can do it yourself.

If you think you may be due a refund there are a number of things you can do:

    1) Ask on here for more info giving a few details of why you think you might be due a refund, or if you think you may be due certain releifs etc..
    2) Write to your HMRC office and ask
    3) Ring up your HMRC office
    4) Go into an HMRC office with your paperwork and discuss with an adviser about refunds etc.

Best bet if probably start with number 1, then take it from there :)
