    A couple of questions -

If the container was in a cardboard outer box was this damaged?
As the tray was cracked why did it not leak in the microwave?
Did you eat the meal from the tray or put it on a plate?

    Cheers,

    Eph
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

  • I'd take it straight back to the store and make a note of what was said and names. The store will probably refund you and send it off to head office, who'll no doubt send you a letter of apology and some vouchers.

I'm sure if you were so inclined you could ring one of those ambulance chasing insurance companies, but if you already knew the container was broken why did you still cook it and eat it?

Sorry I can't be of more help but to me those sound like the options. Keep us posted on what happens.
I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

The cardboard outerbox as not damaged in any way

The tray did leak in the microwave so i empted the food onto a plate ,there was still a little gravy left in the tray which i emptid onto the plate and started to eat .As i started to eat it i discovered tiny fragments of sharp plastic in it which cut me .

Just want to add theres no way i was suggesting sueing i just think i should complain not to sure now .
  • I'd probably complain, I wouldn't sue but a complaint means that if others have had the same problem and also complained they are alerted to the problem, and you will probably get vouchers as a "sorry". If you don't want to accept the vouchers, just say thanks but no thanks and hand them back?
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right

    Hi carlos,

As your thread has dropped off the front page of Old Style, I've moved it over to the Shop but Don't drop board to see if you can get some more opinions.

If the plastic tray was as damaged as you say when you removed it from the box, why on earth did you continue to heat it? To me it would be obvious that plastic fragments would be present in the meal as well as it leaking inside the microwave. IMHO if you persisted to eat it in the given state of the packaging i would either be inclined to either remove it from original tray and cook it in a microwavable container of my own or totally refuse to use it and return it on next trip to Tesco.

Take the packaging back to Tesco Customer Services It will help if you have the plastic container as well. They will give you a refund and also send a customer complaint to head office. They will get in touch with the original manufacturer who will contact you in due course. They may offer you some compensation usually in the form of vouchers. It can take a few months to hear back from them though.

I'd agree with Tessie, and you should certainly at least get your money back for the meal! Sorry to read about your experience, I occasionally use these meals too and will be checking them more carefully!! :)
